Budgeting For Trade Shows

If you have invested your company’s resources in buying booth space at a trade show, you want to make sure that you get a definite return on your investment. One way to make sure that this happens is to properly budget your expenses for your trade show displays. Having a budget in mind before you start the process will help you to ensure that the expenses for your trade show display do not outweigh the return you expect to make in attracting new customers and the sales that result. What kind of things should you keep in mind when trying to decide on your budget?

Most companies have a certain amount of their monthly or yearly budget that they set aside for marketing. First and foremost you need to find out how much of this budget your company can reasonably set aside to invest in a trade show booth display. If you are in charge of organizing the booth, it is a good idea to prepare a written budget in advance so that there will be as few surprises as possible later down the road. It is probably a good idea to consult with professional trade show display designers to get a good ballpark of how much you likely need to set aside in your budget.

It is also the course of wisdom to keep track of your expenses so that they can be reviewed later to see how closely you were able to stick to the budget. Many companies like to go back and review their budget and actual expenses for a particular trade show to see where they may have went over or under budget and what they can possibly do to improve those margins for the next show. These records can also be very handy for preparing the budget for the next trade show since there will likely be many more to follow after the success of the first one.

If it is within your budget another great idea is to market your trade show display booth to potential target companies. If you know that they will be attending the trade show that your company will be at, then you may want to send them some literature as a preview in order to build up their anticipation for seeing your actual display at the trade show. At the very least it will make them aware that you will be there and they will likely come around to visit your booth.

An important key to staying within your budget is to make sure you choose the parts of your display carefully. Doing research on companies that provide trade show display items will help you find the company that can best provide for your needs. It is a good idea to look for firms that include the color graphic printing in their prices and that have experience in the field. If you do your research and budget well, you will have a trade show display that provides an excellent return on investment.
