In the early 1900's our great grandfather imigrated from Germany bringing with him only the
clothes on his back and his family legacy of crafting hard cider. Heinrick Bingen settled in the
Columbia Gorge with a vision and at the time what many considered a radical lifestyle.
Prohibition forced Heinrick "Sourpuss" Bingen underground. It was during this time that
his creativity shined. To meet the massive demand for his then illegal beverage, Sourpuss
used a series of logging flumes to covertly distribute his product up and down the Columbia
River.

Heinrick Bingen's legacy continues on today in the town of Bingen, Washington, where Bad
Seed Cider is produced using the Bingen's traditional family recipe. Learn more about
"Sourpuss" and the beverage that made him famous - visit our tasting room.
